Bitmap & Dither Image Converter
1-Bit Studio turns any photo into black-and-white bitmap and dithered artwork, then exports it as a PNG or a razor-sharp SVG. Everything runs on your device — your images are never uploaded.
What it does
Load an image and the converter reduces it to two tones using the dithering method you choose. You control the pixel size, threshold, brightness, contrast, midtones and sharpening, then fine-tune the look with scanline and glitch effects. Recolour the ink and background to anything you like, or keep it a classic 1-bit black on white.
Twelve dithering methods
Pick from a hard threshold, error-diffusion styles (Floyd–Steinberg, Atkinson, Jarvis, Stucki, Burkes, Sierra Lite), ordered Bayer patterns (2×2, 4×4, 8×8), random noise, and halftone dots. Each gives a distinct texture — read the dithering methods guide to see them side by side.
Crop, rotate and effects
Use Crop & rotate to reframe, straighten or flip before converting, with free or fixed aspect ratios. Add Scanlines for a CRT feel or Glitch for broken-signal displacement, and re-roll the glitch until it looks right.
Export as PNG, BMP or SVG
Download a pixel-perfect PNG at up to 8× scale, a real 24-bit .bmp file for software that needs it, or a vector SVG that stays crisp at any size — ideal for print, stickers, laser cutting and web graphics. Need to process a folder of images at once? Use Batch mode.
1. Drop or paste an image above. 2. Choose a dither method and adjust the sliders. 3. Optionally crop, rotate and add effects. 4. Download as PNG, BMP or SVG.

Frequently asked questions
Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. All processing happens locally in your browser using the Canvas API. Nothing is sent to a server.
What image formats can I load?
Any format your browser can open — JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF (first frame) and more. You can also paste from the clipboard.
Why would I export SVG instead of PNG?
SVG is vector, so it scales to any size without blurring or blocky edges. It is perfect for large prints and cutting machines. See the SVG export guide.
